VUR (Vesicoureteral Reflux)
Management & Treatment

Expert pediatric care focusing on diagnosing, grading, and treating urine reflux to protect young kidneys from recurrent infections and damage.

What is Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)?

Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) is a condition where urine flows backward from the bladder up into the ureters and potentially back to the kidneys. It is often congenital and is frequently diagnosed in children following recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Under Dr. Avinash Singh's pediatric urology expertise, children undergo precise grading evaluations to determine whether medical observation, prophylactic antibiotics, or corrective minimally invasive procedures are necessary to preserve kidney health.

Therapeutic Pathways

VUR Treatment Approaches

Structured management protocols ranging from conservative monitoring to advanced endoscopic and surgical correction.

Observation & Antibiotics

For mild grades of VUR, children often outgrow the condition naturally over time. Low-dose preventive antibiotics are prescribed to prevent urinary tract infections.

Endoscopic Injection (STING)

A minimally invasive outpatient procedure where a special bulking agent is injected near the ureter opening to create a valve mechanism preventing backward urine flow.

Surgical Reimplantation

Recommended for higher grades or persistent reflux. Surgery repositions the ureter inside the bladder wall to restore normal one-way urine flow permanently.
