What is Radical Cystectomy?
Radical Cystectomy is the gold-standard surgical treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer and selected cases of high-risk recurrent non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. This complex procedure involves the complete removal of the urinary bladder along with the surrounding lymph nodes to eliminate cancer effectively and reduce the risk of recurrence. Depending on the patient's gender and the extent of the disease, nearby organs such as the prostate and seminal vesicles in men or the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and part of the vaginal wall in women may also be removed to achieve optimal oncological outcomes.
