What is PCNL Surgery?
PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) is globally recognized as the gold standard surgical procedure for treating large kidney stones (typically larger than 2cm), multiple stones, or complex staghorn stones that cannot be effectively cleared by regular medical treatment or smaller procedures like RIRS.
Unlike traditional open surgeries, PCNL is minimally invasive. Dr. Avinash Singh makes a tiny, precise incision (about 1 cm) in the patient's back. A specialized narrow instrument called a nephroscope is then passed directly into the kidney to visualize, fragment using high-power laser or ultrasonic energy, and completely remove the stone fragments.
